What is a doula?
A doula is a trained, non-medical support person who provides care during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Birth doulas offer continuous support through pregnancy and labour, including evidence-based guidance, emotional reassurance, and physical comfort measures like positioning and massage. Postpartum doulas support recovery and early parenthood by helping families rest, feel nourished, establish feeding, and gently settle into life with their new baby.
Research shows that having a doula makes a real difference! A large research review found that doula support is linked to fewer cesareans, more vaginal births, and more positive birth experiences. More information can be found at Evidence Based Birth.
Services
Birth Support
As a birth doula, I’m here to help you know how to prepare, what to expect, and when and who to call. I serve as a source of evidence-based knowledge around birth that you can rely on for any questions during your journey. My job is to help you feel good as we lead up to the birth—what that support looks like all depends on what you need, which we will discuss together during our early meetings. Anything that comes up, I’m available to answer your questions or connect you with someone who can!
My care includes:
Prenatal visits where I can help you prepare for labour
24/7 on-call availability from two weeks before to two weeks after your due date
Continuous, in-person labour and birth support
Support (text/call/email) as needed throughout pregnancy and postpartum
Postpartum visits to help you settle in at home after baby’s arrival, including breastfeeding advice and newborn care
Optional baby photographs during or after birth
Birth Doula Package Pricing:
As an early-career doula, I am offering my birth doula services at the reduced sliding scale price of $700-$1000.
Postpartum Support
As a postpartum doula, I help you adjust to life at home with your new baby. Taking care of a small human that needs around-the-clock care, while still attending to your own physical and emotional needs, is no small feat. As a post-partum doula, I aim to relieve this pressure by providing support in whatever way you might need.
This may include, but is not limited to:
Caring for your baby while you nap, take a shower, go for a walk, etc
Meal prepping, because you need to eat well during this time of recovery
Lactation support and help with baby wrapping
Light housekeeping and tidy up
Running errands
Help with sibling care as they adapt to the new baby
The goal here is to work myself out of a job—to help you develop a routine and get settled into life with your new baby that is sustainable for your family.
Daytime fee: $25-35/hour
